16/08/2023 - DBN Member's Night Out - Koi Kuningan

On August 16th, the Dutch Business Network hosted a casual and fun Member’s Night Out event. This gathering marked the start of a new membership period and gave everyone a chance to reconnect after the summer break. More than 60 members enjoyed a great evening at Koi Kuningan. We’d like to give a big shout-out to Multi Bintang Indonesia for supplying the beers and to Alain Cornil from Koi Kuningan for warmly welcoming our members and serving up some delicious snacks in their brand new bar area.

We’re also excited to introduce our new Chairman, Sander van der Meer. Starting from August 1st, he’ll be leading us forward. Sander has been an active member of the DBN Board since 2021, bringing a lot of experience and a true passion for our community.

Looking forward for another great year with our members!

15/06/2023 - DBN Company Visit - Kraft Heinz

We had an amazing opportunity on June 8th to visit the Kraft Heinz Factory. It was an eye-opening experience to see how Kraft Heinz products, including the well-known ABC brand, are made. From carefully selecting ingredients to cooking and final assembly, it was clear that a lot of effort goes into ensuring top-quality products for consumers.

We want to express sincere appreciation to both Kraft Heinz  and our board member, Steven Debrabandere, for making this insightful visit happen. With the participation of over 20 members, the event also served as a delightful chance to reconnect with friends and partners. We also extend our gratitude to all the participants who made the journey to Karawang, and we sincerely hope that everyone had a fantastic day!

08/06/2023 - DBN Herring Party

Last June, we had an amazing time at the DBN Herring Party! Overlooking the stunning cityscape of Jakarta, more than 150 enthusiastic attendees gathered on the Lamudi rooftop for an evening filled with fun and herring!

The DBN Herring Party was not just a celebration, but also a valuable opportunity to connect with industry professionals and forge new acquaintances. Attendees had a great time mingling, sharing ideas, and building relationships with like-minded individuals. The event showcased the vibrant spirit of our community and underscored the importance of networking and collaboration.

We were truly honored to have Lambert Grijns, the Dutch Ambassador, open the night by ceremoniously enjoying the first herring. We express our sincere gratitude to Ambassador Grijns for gracing us with his presence and making the event more special.

Our heartfelt appreciation goes to Mart Polman for his informative presentation about Lamudi and for providing us with the remarkable venue that set the stage for an unforgettable evening. Their generosity and support played a pivotal role in making the DBN Herring Party a resounding success.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to KOI for their outstanding catering services, Multi Bintang Indonesia for the beers, and Lekker Snacks for their delicious bitterballen.

Lastly, we would like to express a big thank you to all the attendees who joined us at the DBN Herring Party. Your presence and enthusiasm made the event truly special, and we are genuinely grateful for your participation.

As we move forward, we remain committed to bringing you more exciting events and opportunities to connect with industry leaders and peers. Stay tuned for upcoming announcements, and make sure to mark your calendars for the next gathering!

Once again, thank you all for making the DBN Herring Party a memorable occasion.

18/04/2023 - DBN Breakfast Talk - The Ocean Cleanup and Indonesian Plastic Bag Diet Movement

Last May 9, we were pleased to welcome two ladies working on prevention of plastic pollution. Stacey Santoso from The Ocean Cleanup and Tiza Mafira from Gerakan Indonesia Diet Kantong Plastik

Stacey offered us a great overview of The Ocean Cleanup’s activities globally and in Indonesia. The Ocean Cleanup obviously started working on cleaning the great patches of plastic that are accumulating in oceans (the biggest one being 3 times the size of France!). Indonesia was their first location for catching plastics before they reach oceans via a river cleanup device.

Tiza’s main aim is preventing that single use plastics are used in the first place. With her NGO GIDKP she was the one pushing for plastic bag levies that later turned into plastic bag bans. Nowadays in over 200 cities and regencies plastic bags are banned in Indonesia. Just replacing it via other materials is not enough for Tiza: she currently works on promoting alternative models of consumption where packaging is reused and refilled.

One of these refill models was also applied to the DBN breakfast talk directly where the coffee was served in reusable cups from Indonesia’s start-up ALLAS

We want to thank Stacey Santoso from The Ocean Cleanup for finding the time for this insightful presentation during her visit to Indonesia, as well as Tiza Mafira from GIDKP for her inspirational talk. We moreover want to thank the Dutch Embassy Indonesia and the Erasmus Huis for hosting this event and all participants for their interest and the valuable questions asked during the Q&A.

Over 40 representatives from Dutch companies attended the successful breakfast talk. Arjan Dekker from Witteveen+Bos also shared some examples how the embassy assisted them to do business in Indonesia and make use of the provided instruments provided by the Dutch government.
